Few people are aware
of the intense struggle a woman goes through after her spirit has been
touched, and she receives a call to ministry only to be told, You can't
serve in that capacity because you are a woman. There is guilt because she has suppressed her call. There is
frustration, even anger, with those who have denied her call. There is
deep sorrow at being considered forever barred from answering that call. Traditionalists say of a woman¹s call to mutuality in
ministry that she is deluded or disobedient, probably influenced by that
current cliché feminism. This opinion was openly
expressed to me during the equal rights era. Oddly, the ERA was an era.
Since women have heard that God does not frustrate
desires of His making, she is left to agonize over the question,
Is my call from God or is it a personal desire?
