Book Excerpt
"Today, it is
still breathtaking. It is what Jesus would have seen as He went on foot.
Even then, Hebron, the place of the burial of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
was ancient history. At night, the lights of all these places glowed as
the eyes of my soul traveled back in time. In the early dawn, the
sugarloaf peak of Mount Tabor was clearly visible, and the lake of Galilee
gleamed in the sunlight. Jericho was still shrouded in its
palm trees as it was four thousand years ago for
Moses, and two thousand years ago for Jesus. The
green valley was in strong contrast with the stark hills of Judea. It is
impossible to frame with words the deep emotion I felt as I traveled
through the lands of the Bible. As the guide lectured in the bus or when I stood on a site, I
could hear the hooves of horses and the battle cry of the ancient men of
Scripture and history. My mind became a theater screen upon which each
scene was replayed."
